Overview of Program
Villagers 20/20, a vision of former Missouri City Councilman Don Smith, is a program that umbrellas under the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation (MCJCF) and is designed to prepare tomorrow’s leaders today, though the delivery of effective human development initiative and programs. Villagers 20/20 began as a two-week interactive, series of life skills, financial, career exploration, social skill development and self-mastery of essential skills many consider essential to effectiveness and success in a global workforce. All sessions were delivered by professionals with MDs, PhDs, Masters and years of experience in their respective fields.
The program was such a huge success that the parents and families of the community asked Councilman Smith to keep it going throughout the year not just during the summer. Villagers 20/20 now partnering with private, public and community organizations, offers a six hour session every other month (which began in November 2006).
The youth and their parents participate in sessions that focus on Family Values, Healthy Lifestyles, Decision-Making, Character Building, Self-Esteem, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Personal Values, Goal Setting and Spirituality.
